Artwork of a Contemporary Luminist - Thoughts and Processes
My earliest memories of “what do I want to be when I grow up” fluctuated between artist and architect, which might explain why interior design and space planning have been my chosen trade for the past thirty years. As I continue in my practice of design, I have been wanting to explore the creative process of visual art. I have always been intrigued to the point of obsession with lighting and its visual effect on spaces, and on its ability to set an atmospheric mood. These disciplines have influenced the direction I am currently pursuing in my artwork. I would like to consider myself to be a contemporary luminist, working with varied types of mixed media, including light reactive and holographic films. The goal is to capture the viewer’s eye with an abstract image, and then draw them in with the illusion of another dimension that appears to be lit from within. This creates a kind of kinetic quality that intensifies and diminishes as the viewer moves or the light source changes. Below are some photos of my mixed media pieces that display the direction of my work. For information on upcoming showings, or to schedule a private showing or consultation for a commissioned piece, please call or email me.
